Good products for dry skin?

I have really dry skin on my face and i find that when i put my foundation on it makes my dry skin more visible. I tried to reduce this by not wearing powder but this did not seem to work and my makeup came of during the day. I have tried nivea soft moisturiser, soap and glory body er, Johnston's baby oil and some others but they do not seem to work. I do not want to spend a lot on any products but i want something good and reliable. Does anyone know of a good product for this?
