Why did Jesus love the sheep but hated the goats? Is there an inner meaning to this?

Sheep were kept to eat and goats were usually kept for their milk. Although you will see mixed herds now it is still only the eating variety with the eating variety or with the advent of milking sheep, occasionally mixed milking herds!
