Why do people take photos with celebrities?

Are most people so retarded and desperate that they will do anything to take pics with celebrities, I know friends who are so desperate. I mean afterall celebrities are normal beings.... just like entrepreneurs and stuff... and infact... these common people mean no **** to celebrities.... so unless if these common people are really good friends of the celebrities... or maybe they helped the celebrity get where he is today... then they could proudly take photos with the celebrities... other than that... what's the glory in taking pictures with celebrities.... after their death all these pictures are meaningless... it's all worthless... the most they can get away with is to say they know the celebrity..... and cook up stories about their relationship with the celebrity... for self satisfaction, but I personally feel this is corny and useless.... if you dont have mutual respect with any person you are about to take pics with... why take pictures lol it's stupid.... well that's just my point of view... cant wait to hear what u guys have to say!
